Christmas Dishes

Does anyone know what 4 months from today will be???  Christmas Day!!
Can you believe that??  Well, I'm still  trying to get used to the idea that summer has once again, come and gone.  To be thinking about Christmas is really hard.  But it is coming and will be here in no time.  Hobby Lobby has had their Christmas decorations out for two months!! So regardless if I like it, the season is coming!

Recently, I painted  some Christmas dishes --- they were a wedding gift for my niece, Carly.    Carly had requested traditional dishes.  I jokingly asked, "Has she seen my work?"  I don't think traditional has ever described my painting.  So this project was going to be a challenge for me.  After much prayer,  I had an idea.  Well, it really wasn't mine, more like an answered prayer.  I would tell the Christmas story through Carly's dishes.  Each plate has a scene that corresponds to the scripture painted.  The verse is cited on the back of each plate.  Check out the finished product below.

These Christmas dishes are some of my favorite pieces I've made.
I also made Carly a dessert plate with a "K" on it that she could use with her Christmas dishes or any other occasion along with some red or black plates.  The salad plates are Christmas themed with ornaments and trees.  The dessert and salad plates nestle together nicely.

I'm also including some "non-traditional" Christmas dishes that I did last year.

Carly & Ernie's Wedding!!

My niece got married this past weekend.  It was my first destination wedding, and let me just tell you how excited I was about it.   My entire family, including both sets of grandparents, packed up and flew to Pompano Beach, Florida.  There was sun, fun, and good food --- Not to mention an incredible sweet wedding at sunset on the beach.   What could be better?
My family had a wonderful trip and enjoyed making memories with our family in south Florida.
Congratulations  Mr. & Mrs. Kuyper!!!

Wedding Gifts

I've had several orders for wedding gifts over the past couple of months.  And that got me to thinking.... How I love weddings, even though I usually cry at them.  You see-- for years, my man and I took wedding pictures.  If it were a Saturday, we were at a wedding.
Now, that is not why I would cry, it was because of that slide show of photos that some couples would show prior to the wedding while their guests were arriving.  Or maybe it was the photos they'd show while a special song was playing during the wedding.  Either way, it was sure bet that I was gonna need some kleenex.  And just so you know, I would cry regardless if I new the bride or groom!

Now days, I don't attend as many weddings, but I still love them. However,  I do get to create wedding gifts for special couples, and  I know they are going to love and cherish their gift. Here are some photos of  recent wedding gifts that've I've done over the summer.

I've also had several orders for anniversaries.  Here are a couple of Golden Anniversaries platters that I was ask to create.

Remember to call me the next time you  need a wedding or anniversary gift, remember to call me!!

Celebrate with Canvas!!!

My last post was a recap of  Art Camp.  This first year of Art Camp was a huge success, and as a result, new doors of opportunities have opened for me.  One door that I want to share with you today is that  I'm now expanding Scripts of Bisque to include Celebrate with Canvas.  With Celebrate with Canvas, I'm offering Birthday parties, Adult Paint Nights, and Girls Nights In.

You pick out a painting, supply the location, and I will supply the fun!!!  On the date of your event, I bring all the painting supplies, and will give step by step instructions to your guests.  By the time your event is over, each guest will leave with their own masterpiece!

Check out the new blog "Celebrate with Canvas" here.

Parties prices depend on canvas size.  Contact me for more information.

Art Camp

Art Camp seemed like Christmas to me. In January of 2012, I began planning
for Art Camp.  For months, I prepared and talked about Art Camp, but it
seemed sooo far away!
But finally, early monday morning on June 18th, the first art campers
began to arrive at camp.  I was a little anxious, yet by the end of day
one I was glad that I had taken on  this venture.
The next two weeks of camp flew by and are now in the books. I had more fun this
summer during art camp, and if the truth be told, probably as much as the campers!!
The campers painted a canvas each day. At times when paint would be drying,
Mrs. Christie taught a Bible lesson that related back to the painting for that day.
There were key verses and catch phrases that were learned every day.
Mrs. Christie did an excellent job with the kids.  I could not have
accomplished art camp with out Mrs. Christie and all the other helpers.

I'm attaching some more photos from art camp so you can see first
hand what fun we had.

A BIG Thank You to everyone who help make the
first Art Camp a Huge Success!!!

ART CAMP SAMPLES

Here are some of the Paintings that we will be painting at the art camp this summer. Each canvas will relate back to a story or verse that will demonstrate a character trait that we should exhibit. For more information or to register for the art camp, please contact me at 256-478-7484 or email me at scriptsonbisque@hotmail.com.

Session Two Campers (5K-3rd) will be painting this one with Jonah and the whale. We will be talking about being obedient to your parents and God.

Both Sessions will be painting the Owl. The verse that we will be focusing on is Psalm 91:4, and that God is our protector and he cares for us.

Both Sessions will be painting the Nativity Scene. This painting will incorporate their footprint for a customized manger!!! Also, this day, each camper will get to create their very own ceramic Christmas ornament!

Session One campers (4th-6th) will be painting this cross. The lesson we will talk about is LOVE and the ultimate display of Love that God demonstrated to us. Campers will get to pick their colors and design their own cross. Boy campers may want to create a "Camo" cross!

Meet Gertrude. She's a little different, but that's what makes her special. First Session Campers will be painting her OR her friend, Biff. He too is a little different. Through this painting, we will be discussing how God made us each unique and how He loves us just as we are. The verse we will be focusing on is Eccl. 3:11 -- "He has made everything beautiful, in its time."

This is Biff! He really wants to be buffed with muscles but he's lacking a little bit. Gertrude and Biff will speak to the issue of bullying that can start occuring at this age.

Check back, I'll be posting a couple more of the paintings that we will be painting. Remember your spot will not be reserved until payment is received. So email me, so I can send you a registration form. Happy Painting!!!
